The Future of Alumni Engagement at UNT

A stronger UNT begins with a more connected alumni community.

As part of our three-year strategic plan, the UNT Alumni Association is focused on strengthening how we engage and grow together as an alumni community.

At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to keeping you connected to UNT and to each other. We're focused on what you've told us matters most: communicating with purpose, creating connections within our campus community to maximize impact and investing in students and early alumni.

Our goal is to create more intentional ways for alumni to make an impact — in your city, your career and your community. We’re building something meaningful — and you’re a vital part of it.

We are excited about what’s ahead — and even more excited to build it with you.

Our Top 5 Commitments to Alumni

Over the past year, we’ve asked how we can show up better for our alumni — and the answer is simple: be more intentional, more connected and more accessible.

At a university as large as UNT, connection doesn’t happen by accident. Therefore, we’ve built a clearer approach to alumni engagement that meets alumni where they are.

  • Strategic Communication

    We communicate with purpose.

We’re investing in clear, consistent communication. You’ll receive timely updates about events, university news and opportunities to get involved through various communication channels.

We invest in students and early alumni.

We’re investing in students and early alumni. Our Alumni Vision in Action

UNT is one of the nation’s largest public universities, and our alumni community is just as powerful. This plan is designed to ensure that no matter where life takes you, your connection to UNT remains meaningful, accessible and personal.

At its core, this strategy is about cultivating a unique UNT post-graduation experience — celebrating success, fostering pride in the Mean Green community and creating opportunities for lifelong engagement that reflect the diverse paths our alumni take.

In sharing this plan, we hope our alumni feel empowered to explore:

  • What these changes means for you.
  • What’s already underway.
  • How you can get involved.
  • Built for Alumni: No Membership Required

You are part of the UNT Alumni Association!

The UNT Alumni Association is evolving to better connect and serve all alumni. By moving to a reimagined engagement model, every UNT graduate is now automatically a member — no membership dues required. This means you’ll continue to have access to alumni benefits, events and networking opportunities, no matter when you graduated or where life has taken you.

This updated approach is designed to strengthen lifelong connections and ensure every UNT graduate can participate in and benefit from a vibrant, growing alumni network. Learn more about the integrated alumni model and take advantage of your alumni benefits.

  • North Texas Network: One Year. 2,000 Strong.

The North Texas Network, the online community where UNT alumni stay engaged and in-the-know, has quickly become a place where alumni can tap into a community that feels like home — one that celebrates your journey, supports your goals and keeps the momentum of the Mean Green pride going strong!

Are you on the network? If you haven’t joined yet, now’s the time. Getting started is easy — create or activate your account and come see what we've been up to!

  • C.A.R. Program

We’re expanding access and collaboration with the Campus Alumni Representatives (CAR) Program.

Through these strategic partnerships, we are:

    • Connecting colleges and programs across campus.
    • Creating more coordinated engagement opportunities.
    • Reaching alumni who may not have felt connected in the past.
  • GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Alumni Network

We’re supporting the next generation with the introduction of the GOLD Alumni Network, established to serve UNT alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years by increasing networking, professional development and community enrichment opportunities for recent alum.

GOLD aims at extending reach for regional engagement and mentorship by stewarding Mean Green Pride and creating a natural pipeline for recent graduates to get involved!

  • 10 Under 10 Awards

In partnership with the GOLD Alumni Network, we hosted the inaugural 10 Under 10 Awards in spring 2026. The awards celebrate exceptional alumni and rising leaders — advancing in their professions and demonstrating a strong commitment to service, volunteerism and philanthropic involvement — within 10 years of graduation who exemplify the Mean Green spirit by already making a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

  • The BIG Event — Alumni Service Day

The BIG Event is a nationally recognized day of service celebrated by UNT each spring, bringing together passionate volunteers — students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends — and contributing more than 10,000 hours of service across Denton County.

In 2026, we mobilized Mean Green alumni statewide to participate in this event as our first annual “Alumni Service Day,” in partnership with UNT Division of Student Affairs.

Our Alumni Volunteer Networks coordinated service projects, leading connection and engagement in the communities where they live and work. Check out a few highlights from the day: The BIG Event — Alumni Service Day.
