Volunteer with UNT’s newest partner in student success — Braven, a national nonprofit dedicated to helping college students achieve strong post-graduation results — to support, mentor and guide current UNT students.
What is Braven?
Braven is a nonprofit career accelerator program that partners with universities — including UNT — to equip promising college students with the skills, networks, confidence and experience they need to transition from college into meaningful careers. Braven has served more than 15,500 students nationwide and has a strong track record for success.

Why Volunteer?
Alumni have the opportunity to give back to current UNT students by sharing professional experiences and perspectives, as well as build meaningful connections with fellow alumni and community members.
All programs are virtual for volunteers with options for in-person touch points as needed.
Braven Opportunities for Alumni
Leadership Coach
Braven's highest-impact program.
Lead sessions with 5-8 students each week, facilitating parts of the virtual course as students build networking, communication, problem-solving and career-readiness skills. As a Leadership Coach, volunteers play a vital role in guiding UNT students as they build the skills, confidence and connections needed to launch their successful careers.
As a Braven Leadership Coach, you will:
- Mentor a small group of UNT students participating in the Braven x UNT Career Accelerator program
- Facilitate weekly virtual sessions focused on career readiness and leadership skills
- Provide encouragement, accountability and real-world insights
- Help students build confidence as they prepare for life after graduation
- This flexible virtual opportunity is designed for working professionals who want to make a difference
Time Commitment
Three hours per week time commitment (select dates in January-May or August-December).
Signups have closed for fall 2026. New opportunities will be available spring 2027.
Professional Mentor
Connect with a Braven student participant to offer one-on-one career guidance, share relevant experiences and help expand their professional network throughout the semester.
Time Commitment
1.5-hours per week time commitment (select dates in February-May or June and September).
Mock Interviewer
Help students sharpen their interview skills through a one-time or recurring mock interview. Provide feedback as well as best practices to prepare them for entering the competitive job market.
Time Commitment
2.5-hour time commitment (select dates in March and October).
Braven Volunteers FAQ
Do I need to commit to all three opportunities (Leadership Coach, Professional Mentor, Mock Interviewer)?
Not at all! Each role is entirely standalone. You're welcome to choose just one that fits your schedule and interests — or take on more than one if you have the bandwidth.
Are there other ways to engage if I can't commit to these roles right now?
Yes. Even if a recurring weekly commitment isn't realistic right now, you can stay connected by completing the interest form so we can share future one-time opportunities through our newsletter (like campus events, panels or networking mixers) as they come up, or by referring another alumni who might be a great fit.
Do I need to be a UNT alum to volunteer?
This initiative is focused on building a strong base of UNT alumni volunteers, since alumni bring a built-in connection to the student's experience. That said, if you know other professionals — alumni or not — who'd be a great fit, please encourage them to complete the interest form and attend an info session.Â
