UNT Ring Award

Forever North Texas ring logo

The UNT Ring Ceremony and Eagle Ring Dive is a time-honored tradition celebrating students who have earned their official UNT ring. Each ring is a personal symbol of a student’s journey, reflecting their college story and honoring their academic achievement. This ceremony is one of the most meaningful moments of the UNT experience.

We know that not all students have the resources to purchase a ring. For years, alumni and staff dreamed of creating a way to ensure more students could share in this milestone tradition. The UNT Alumni Association is proud to help make that dream a reality through the Ring Program Excellence Endowment.

Ring Program Excellence Endowment

Inspired by her profound engagement as a volunteer in the Dallas Chapter of the UNT Alumni Association, Leah Woodruff Hatfield (’77) stepped forward with the lead gift to establish the Ring Program Excellence Endowment. Her commitment reflects both her deep UNT pride and her belief in the power of philanthropy to impact lives.

Through Leah’s generosity, future generations of Mean Green students will celebrate their accomplishments with a UNT ring — and know that alumni stand behind them every step of the way. Her family’s support ensures that more students can experience the pride of an official UNT ring.

As Leah shared:

“The UNT ring is a life-long symbol of the college experience. This experience is not guaranteed to be easy. There will be struggles, hardships, setbacks and self-doubt. But the senior will persevere.

So, when the time comes for the senior to receive the University’s official notice stating that the minimum hours have been met to qualify not only for this college ring but also for graduation, celebrate the accomplishment and achievement of a dream for the future.

The emotions the graduating senior will experience when that ring box is received and opened can be overwhelming as it represents hours of hard work and focus, along with past memories of life events that could have completely erased any dream of a college education. Understand that these feelings will also be shared by family members and friends.

Tears. Laughter. Amazement. Wonder.”
